16 Perfect Harry Potter Potions Gifts for Every Potionmaster

Even if you don’t really identify as a Slytherin, you might have been interested in the “subtle science and exact art of potion-making,” as Snape describes it. Through most of the Harry Potter books, potions is made out to be an unfair and challenging class – when as we all know the teacher makes all the difference.

And while you unlucky Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, and Ravenclaws would never have done as well as me and my fellow Slytherins thanks to Snape’s bigotry, we can all agree that when Slughorn took over as potions master at Hogwarts, things probably got a lot fairer.

In any case, whether you love potions and want to treat yourself or you know a Harry Potter fan who finds potion-making fascinating, you’ve come to the right place.

Below you’ll find some of the best Harry Potter potions gifts available, from brands you recognize to independent craftspeople selling incredible items on Etsy. Heck – even those who don’t consider potions their favorite class would probably appreciate receiving one of these items since they represent the magic of the Wizarding World! (If you instead prefer Herbology, I’ve got a gift guide for that class too!)

Advanced Potion Making Replica

This replica of the Advanced Potion-Making textbook is one of my absolute favorite Harry Potter Potions gifts. The book’s design looks so authentic that it’ll be hard to decipher if you’ve actually borrowed it from Hogwarts Library or not.

What I love the most is that the seller has done an outstanding job at giving the book that aged, shabby look. The replica features an old, blueish hardcover and thin paper sheets, depicting step-by-step guides to concoct each potion. They’ve also added scribbles and notes Severus jutted down in cursive on the margins– these will definitely help anyone stand out on their next potions exam.

Amortentia Necklace

If your friend is having trouble in love, they’ll appreciate this Amortentia necklace. The glass bottle resembles a potion jar with a cork top and has a silver-plated oval-link chain attached.

The apothecary label on the front gives the jar an authentic potion look, which I love. The jar also comes with a heart clasp and pink liquid inside. The necklace is a delicate piece of jewelry; it measures approximately 1 1/2 inches, so it’s best for someone older who can care for it properly.

Felix Felicis Pendant

Who hasn’t ever wished there was a magical drink that would give us a much-needed stroke of luck? Luckily, the Felix Felicis potion exists.

This Felix Felicis Pendant is the perfect gift for HP collectors. The potion bottle is accurate to the movies and comes in a glass dome to put on display. It has stunning metal adornments and a front metal label with the words “Felix Felicis” carved onto it.

I know the company describes the product as a pendant. However, if you’re thinking of using this as a necklace you might consider replacing the chain. It’s very short and not made of the best material. In short, I think it is excellent for decoration but not an ideal choice of jewelry.

LEGO sets are the best Harry Potter Potions gifts for little muggles who want to bring magic wherever they go. This portable playlet recreates Professor Snape’s potions classroom and comes hidden inside a brick-built playbook.

The set has 270 pieces. It includes the cutest mini-figures of Draco Malfoy, Seamus Finnigan, and Professor Snape, plus a potion book, blackboard, armchair, table, secret chamber, and a dungeon backdrop. These portable sets don’t take a lot of time, making them suitable for all ages. Also, it makes a great collector’s item for display once you finish building it.

I found this playlet that recreates the scene where Hermione, Harry, and Ron are brewing the Polyjuice Potion in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom for yet another LEGO alternative.

The details on this set are phenomenal (just look at those gold skinks!) It comes with 217 pieces, including Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley mini-figures, and a buildable Moaning Myrtle‘s bathroom. You’ll also find the alternative faces of Crabbe, Goyle, and Millicent’s cat. The set has a secret passage under one of the sinks and an exclusive golden Harry Potter mini-figure to mark 20 years of LEGO Harry Potter.

Potions Class Embroidery Pattern

Perhaps, the Potterhead in your life has a more artistic side or is gifted for hands-on activities. If that’s the case, this Potions Class embroidery pattern is one of the best and cutest potions gifts from Harry Potter you can give them.

The pattern is adorable and incredibly detailed. Its design has reproduced perfectly the shelves you find in a Potions Class, with magical potions, flickering candles, a bubbling cauldron, and potions textbooks. The seller offers a pdf guide detailing the stitching techniques, links to video tutorials, and colors you can use for your hoop.

Polyjuice Flask

If your friend appreciates fine woodworking, they’ll be thrilled to get this wooden Polyjuice Potion flask as a gift.

It might not be Barty Crouch Jr.’s hip flask, but this wooden Polyjuice flask version is equally gorgeous. The pattern is stunning, and the wood even smells like wood! It is a natural Cherry wood veneer that is oil-sealed to make it water/alcohol resistant. You can make the flask even more special by printing a name or initials on the back.

Potions-Inspired Candles

I don’t know about you, but I think candles are perfect gifts for anyone. When it comes to HP-themed gifts, the best part is that candles evoke the mysticism we associate with the Wizarding World.

Below you’ll find two lovely candles related to the Potions world.

  • Severus – While he was undoubtedly cruel at times, wizards and witches couldn’t ask for a better Potions master than Severus Snape, the ultra-talented half-blood prince. This candle encapsulates Snape’s scent and includes notes of dark mahogany, fresh blood orange, cognac, smokey clary sage, and golden amber.
  • Potions Class – As the name suggests, this candle will make anyone feel like they are in a Potions classroom. Its fragrance is a rich bouquet with notes of sweet golden amber, warm musk, and mild smokiness.

Potions Replicas

Potions replicas are one of the best potions gifts from Harry Potter, basically because they are the most representative item of the Hogwarts class. Etsy is full of sellers who have designed their own potions flasks for the HP fandom, and they’re all amazing.

  • Amortentia – A beautiful Amortentia potion that comes in a heart-shaped jar with purple glittery liquid inside.
  • Gillyweed – I swear no one will be able to tell this Gillyweed is a replica. The details of the green, glittery liquid inside look so real! The seller has even replicated the rubbery texture of the Gillyweed.
  • Polyjuice Potion – If your friend or loved one is just starting their potions collections, this Polyjuice Potion is an excellent gift choice. The bottle is adorable. It comes with a tiny jar attached to it and has a glittery green liquid inside.
  • Unicorn Blood – This bottle of Unicorn Blood is stunning. It looks just like its description in Harry Potter.  The blood is clear when left to rest, but when you swirl or shake the bottle, the liquid becomes dense and acquires a metallic silver consistency.
  • Veritaserum – It might not be the most ethical potion, but Veritaserum still makes an excellent gift. The details on this potion are gorgeous. The bottle’s top comes with brown twine, a bead strand, and gold wax. The liquid inside changes from clear to gold when you shake it and settles back down to clear after ten minutes.

If you love these potions and want to make (and drink) them at home, be sure to check out my recipes for Amortentia, Polyjuice Potion, Unicorn Blood, and Veritaserum.

Potions Sweatshirt

Gifting clothes is always challenging. However, you can’t go wrong with this potions sweatshirt. It is comfortable and is unisex.

The design is highly versatile and muggles can wear it to snuggle at home or to run errands while looking cool.  Thanks to the polyester and cotton fabrics, it is also comfortable and soft.

The print is also beautiful and of exceptional quality. It includes a cauldron, mortar, and popular potion jars, among others. The sweatshirt comes in various colors, although most are neutral – Slytherins are in luck as the sweatshirt also comes in green!

Soup Cauldron & Spoon

Harry Potter Potions Gifts - Soup Cauldron

We all concoct potions to make our bones thaw when the winter comes. In the muggle world, this potion is called soup.

This Soup Cauldron and Spoon set is absolutely lovely. However, it’s a bit smaller than other soup bowls, and a person can get at most five bites of soup if you use it for that purpose. Still, it can have many other functions. Some Potterheads use the cauldron as a sugar bowl (the spoon and cut-out lid are perfect) or a candy jar for Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.

Of course, the cauldron would make a stunning decor piece for any HP fan who loves displaying movie props in their house.
