Draco Malfoy Costume: How to Make Your Own at Home

Have you ever dreamed of prowling the hallways of Hogwarts as the formidable and silver-haired Slytherin himself, Draco Malfoy? Well, it’s time to put down your quills and parchments, set aside that potion you’ve been brewing, and heed the call of the fashion-forward side of Wizarding World. After all, as Draco would say, “You don’t want to go making friends with the wrong sort.”

In this enchanting guide, we’re going to take you on a magical journey that is as exciting as a round of Quidditch, showing you how to transfigure your everyday attire into the perfect Draco Malfoy costume. From the icy glare down to the green and silver school tie, we’ll cover every detail. So, hold onto your broomsticks, because this transformation will be more spellbinding than a well-executed Polyjuice Potion.

Ready to ‘Slyther-in’ to Draco’s shoes – almost literally?! Then let’s get started. Remember, you don’t need to be a master of Transfiguration to create a costume that would even make Professor McGonagall proud (not that Malfoy cares about the opinion of any teacher other than Snape, of course!). No Dark Arts involved, we promise; just a pinch of creativity, a sprinkle of dedication, and a wave of your wand—uh, we mean, your sewing needle!

Draco Malfoy Costume Item List

Draco Malfoy Costume - Costume pieces

So, you’ve decided to be Draco Malfoy for your next Halloween party. Putting together a Draco Malfoy costume is no challenge as he wears the school uniform in pretty much every movie. But, despite wearing the standard Hogwarts uniform, I find Draco Malfoy to be an extremely stylish young man in the movie (compared to the one described in the book) Even J.K. Rowling thinks so!

Below you’ll find a list of all the items you need to assemble a Draco Malfoy costume that will make everyone turn their heads and look twice to notice it’s actually you and not the Slytherin wizard.

Draco Malfoy Costume: Clothes

First, let’s focus on how you can combine each of the pieces mentioned above to create the foundation of your costume. As I said, Draco wears the Hogwarts uniform. The most important garment is the Slytherin robe. I found this Slytherin robe replica that looks exactly like the one he wears in the movie.

Underneath the robe, you can wear the Slytherin sweater or vest. I found this gray sweater and vest on Amazon. Though, if you ask me, I like the sweater better as it has the Slytherin crest. Then, you’ll need a simple white shirt as part of the uniform; there are options for both men and women. Last but not least, you need a tie; this one will do a good job.

Moving on to the bottom, Draco wears the gray trousers every other Hogwarts student does. I found this pair of gray trousers on Amazon and they fit both boys/men and girls/women. Finally, for the school shoes, I found these Oxford clunky shoes (here for men and here for women) on Amazon that are just like the ones from the movie.

Draco Malfoy Costume: Accessories

The devil is the details, they say. And they’re right, perhaps a bit too literally when it comes to Malfoy. The accessories are a crucial part of any costume because they add that “extra something” that defines each character. In Draco, we find two accessories that can’t be missing. First, is the wand. I found this Draco Malfoy wand on Amazon from the Wizarding World, which also comes with a map.

Second, his hair. You can’t build a convincing Draco Malfoy costume without his unmistakable white-silver locks. This blonde wig from Amazon will complete your look. Bear in mind it may not fit very large heads or people with thick, shoulder-length-or-longer hair. (Don’t forget to get bobby pins to pin your hair up first!)j

Draco Malfoy Costume: Finishing Touches

Not everything is about clothes and accessories. Unlike other characters, Draco has a less noticeable but hugely important item that makes him different: the Dark Mark. Draco is a member of the Death Eaters, and as such, he’s branded with the mark of Lord Voldemort. I found this temporary tattoo on Amazon that looks pretty convincing. Remember to put it on your inner left forearm!

Pre-Made Draco Malfoy Costumes

Not everyone has time to put together their own costume. But that’s not a reason that should prevent you from showing up as the wizard we all love to hate.

These pre-made Draco Malfoy costumes are to the rescue! While I couldn’t find a proper I Malfoy costume for adults. I found this Slytherin robe for both men and women. The same happened with kids, I also found this tiny Slytherin cloak. Still, you just need a pair of gray trousers, a white shirt, and you’re ready to go.
